One must definitely visit here on their way to Yellowstone via the most beautiful route in the world: the Beartooth Highway. Sam's Taproom, owned and operated by Sam Hoffman, is open 4-8pm in the fall, winter and spring, and open 2-8pm in the summer. There is a great patio out back with lots of fun locals to meet. The wintertime is my favorite as Sam brews a dark chocolate stout to die for! Be sure to check it out...

Very good brewery, reccomended if ever in Red Lodge. My favorite is their IPA which is a summer rotater, very hoppy with a good kick to it. The glacier ale is also excellent if you are in the mood for something a little bit darker and malty flavored. I believe its a german style ale. They don't have food (besides popcorn), however there are plenty of good restaurants that serve Red Lodge ales in town.

Stopped in again this summer to find dramatic improvement in their pale ale. It is hoppier and more bitter than before; I guess all it took was a little practice to get it right. I can't really comment on their other brews because I couldn't bring myself to stray from the pale ale.

Who the heck wants a microbrew without a bitter bite?! I DID find a couple of their ales that did have a nice bitter aftertaste to them. This is a fun place to stop in a beautiful area. (There's even a rugged disc golf course in town!)

Was in during a July 2-4 ski trip. Nice fresh, clean atmosphere. Good location to people watch. Own beers on tap, and a few other regional micros, but they also have the standard macros (ugh). Beers are good, micro taste without the bitter bite. Pale very tastey, also a lager type, not too bad. Would go again when the snow is better - early to mid June.

Worth a trip up to Red Lodge, MT if you happen to be in Yellowstone.

The Ale House portion of the restaurant was not open when I was in Red Lodge last, but I was able to get some of their beers down the street a piece. Their Porter was absolutely fantastic, and they brewed a Dunkleweizen that bordered on perfection.
